Vintage German Sterling Green Cabochon Brooch Pin

A richly colored emerald-green cabochon gives this vintage German sterling silver brooch a striking Art Deco-era presence. The oval stone is framed by an intricate pierced openwork gallery that continues around the setting and remains visible from the reverse.  Under ordinary lighting, the cabochon appears evenly colored and nearly opaque. Backlighting reveals deep translucency with mottled, tortoiseshell-like internal patterning. It is nonfluorescent under UV light; no bubbles or curved flow lines were observed.  The cabochon has not been professionally gemologically tested. It could be chalcedony, possibly chrysoprase, or glass. “Emerald green” describes color only; the stone is not identified as emerald. The secure cabochon has no chips, nicks, or cracks and only very minor surface scratches. The openwork mounting has no bent or missing sections, split solder joints, or visible repairs. The hinge operates normally, and the pin remains sharp.  IMPORTANT: The pin stem is slightly bent and does not remain reliably secured in the open C-style catch.
