MCM Alvino Bagni Neo-Baroque Black Red Italian Vase Raymor Label 1960 Vtg Italy

Offered here is a lovely Neo-Baroque vintage Italian mid-century modern Alvino Bagni bottle vase with a high gloss red and black abstract high contrast design. The pattern refers to a specific, highly stylized line of Italian pottery and ceramics designed by Bagni for Raymor during the 1960's and 1970's. It is not a traditional, but rather an aesthetic style that merges opulence with modern, rustic production techniques. The forms are by the ornate, dramatic curves, swirls, and decorative motifs of the original Baroque period with a Bagni twist. ITALY is impressed on the bottom rim clearly. In the center bottom, the number 8 peeks out to the side of the paper Raymor label. This vase is known to have a style number R.2948 handwritten, but choosing to preserve the label. The Raymor label adds to Bagni designation with the BAG notation printed on it. The vase stands 7-5/8 tall and has a circumference of 20-1/8 to make it about 6.5 in diameter. A blacklight check revealed only dust particles, no post-factory chips, cracks, or repairs noted. Overall, in very good original condition and maintains a high gloss shine. This is a beautiful piece of Italian midcentury pottery designed by Bagni, and it will make a striking addition to your MCM, Post-modern, or Italian pottery collection, yet the boldness also lends it to display as a stand-alone statement choice.
