Vintage Japanese Tansu Jewelry Box | Hakone Yosegi Inlay, 3 Drawers, Mirror

A beautiful vintage Japanese miniature tansu-style jewelry chest in the traditional Hakone yosegi wood parquetry style. The top and sides feature an intricate geometric inlay of alternating light and dark wood blocks with a diagonal basket-weave band — the hallmark of Hakone's celebrated woodcraft tradition, practiced in the mountain region near Mt. Fuji for over 200 years.  The front has three small drawers (each with a metal bail pull) and one small mirrored door, all decorated with charming hand-painted floral and bird motifs — red and yellow flowers, a cheerful yellow bird. Bottom stamped JAPAN. A beautiful collector's piece and a uniquely functional jewelry box.  Approx. 5.5 inches tall x 4 inches wide x 3 inches deep.  ✦ CONDITION: Used, good vintage condition.
